Thank Mayors for Passing Resolution for Women’s Freedom and Privacy

We face a War on Women in Congress and many state legislatures. The legislative attacks on women’s right to use birth control and get safe, legal abortion care have been staggering.

We’ve worked so hard to stop the attacks. But do you know who has our backs? Local mayors in cities nationwide.

On June 17, the U.S. Conference of Mayors passed a resolution supporting women’s health and a woman’s right to make personal, private reproductive-health decisions without political interference. But they didn’t just speak up for their values – they called out politicians at all levels of government who have worked to take away women’s choices. Now that’s real leadership!

This resolution wouldn’t have been possible without these leading sponsors: Sam Adams of Portland, Ore.; Michael Bloomberg of New York City; Ed Lee of San Francisco; Mike McGinn of Seattle, Wash.; Pedro Segarra of Hartford, Conn.; and Antonio Villaraigosa of Los Angeles.

Thank these mayors for working to pass the first-of-its-kind pro-choice resolution.
