White House: Support No-Cost Birth Control for All Women
The Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) adopted medical experts’ recommendation that newly issued insurance plans cover birth control without copays. Women will feel the magnitude of this decision every time they go to the pharmacy counter and pick up their birth control without paying a copay.
This is such a tremendous leap forward. However, women who work for a religious institution, like a Catholic hospital or university that opposes birth control, are at risk of not being included under this new policy.
Anti-birth-control forces, including the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, are leading the fight. They have launched a massive campaign to allow religious employers to opt out of the new requirement.
Shouldn’t women who happen to work at a Catholic hospital or religious college have the same access to affordable birth control that millions of other women soon will have?
It’s up to us to stand up for all women who use birth control. Send a message to the White House now to say that all women should have access to contraceptive coverage, regardless of their employer.
No-cost birth control is a big win for women’s. However, Anti-contraception groups, including the U.S. Conference of Catholic Bishops, are leading the charge against this new policy. Please tell the White House that all women – regardless of their employer – should benefit from no-cost birth control.
By taking action, you'll receive pro-choice updates and urgent emails.
Dear President Obama,
I strongly support the new policy requiring newly issued health-insurance plans to cover birth control without a copay, CMS-9992-IFC2. Thank you for this important improvement to women's health care.
